Japanese Art

Japanese art is very unique and beautiful, and it varies in different ways and styles. Starting with the famous Origami that in Japanese means “paper folding”, according to the article What is Origami? It is an art that has been taught from parents to children for many years. It originated in China, but it was introduced in Japan in the same period when the religion was being developed in the country. The most famous origami model is the crane. The Kabuki Theater is another amazing way of art. The article about Kabuki Theater in the website, Japan Guide, explains that only male actors participate in this theater. It consists in showmanship, and it involves designed customs, appealing make-up, eccentric wigs and exaggerated actions performed by the actors. The stage may have platforms and trapdoors that rotate helping to the change of scene and the appearance or disappearance of the actors, it also has a hanamichi or a little bridge that allows the entrance or exit to be theatrical. The same article mentions also that the acts are characterized for having live music performed by traditional instruments and its plots are usually related to historical events, dramas, conflicts, love stories, etc. Finally, we have the Japanese Paintings. Dieter Wanczura, in his website, Artelino, talks about how the paintings vary and that they are well known for being Kakemono; scroll paintings. He also mentions several techniques, such as the Suibokuga that is painting in black ink. The Kano School established the use of bright colors with big areas in its compositions. The small miniature formats in books were taught by the Tosa-ha School; the Nanga style is the one specialized in landscapes and nature. The Shijo School’s technique is based on subjects taken from people’s daily lives. Finally, his article, Japanese Painting, mentions that the Media and Subjects are a combination of paintings in scrolls and Japanese printings.
